Watched Cabin in the Woods last night. For all the hype about it, I was expecting something a bit less straightforward, almost cliche, and utterly predictable. I would have been more impressed with the whole thing had the two narratives of the cabin and the control room been less directly and obviously connected from basically the first couple minutes of the movie. The bit with the speakerphone was good, though.

Sorry I haven’t updated much lately. I’ve been pushing myself to make work for the artists market this previous weekend… which went GREAT, by the way… and until we get a new router, no internet at home. I never quite realized how much use I make of youtube, hulu, etc.. for things to watch while drawing.
Also.. I will be back at the Burren on Saturday the 12th yet again for the next Somerville Local Artists’ Market! If you came by last time, there will be a bit of new stuff yet again!

CORRECTION!!!

I am starting my own internet startup given how much was paid for Instagram. Mine is called InstaHam! Just enter a few parameters as to what you want to see and InstaHam will spit out a custom drawing of little piggy people doing whatever you request with all the careful, obsessive, brain melting, lovely shading as one of my fine drawings. True, it will make me and all the time I spend drawing quite irrelevant and antiquated, but with the cool billion I will get selling it to some internet behemoth, I’m totally okay with that and I can spend all my newfound free time (not that I don’t have a lot right now) doodling piggies and platypii and giraffes and squid for my own twisted amusement (not that I don’t do that a lot right now).

New project
I have a new project entitled I don’t draw what I draw because I’m fucked up. I draw what I draw because the world is fucked up. I tend to draw a lot of strange, darkly comedic, and quietly horrific things and I don’t do so simply because of my own internal demons. In fact outside of the bent sense of humor most of what I do is in response to how horrific our society and society throughout the world is. I’ve decided to start listing a few of the reasons I feel the world is so fucked up and the reasons why I make the art I make. Some humorous, some terrible, and hopefully some are at least slightly insightful.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.
