UPDATE!

Well, I have survived hurricane Irene.. which was pretty tame, thank goodness.  No large ungulates or sea mammals hurtling past or through my windows or anything.  Barely any basement or street flooding, which is rare with that much rain on my street.  I do not, however, have anything new to post at the moment, as every project I have been working on is still in process and I have decided its best not to post so much preliminary work or status update photos.  I believe it takes away from the end product.  I also haven’t started much of anything new of late.  I’m generally just feeling bored of late, but that will change eventually and I will start working on new projects or the backlog of sketches for drawings I have been building up.

Instead of drawingy weirdness.. here are some of my photos.

I gots a store now!

I have finally done it… I have linked my etsy store to my tumblr account.  You can find the link on the left side of the page.  Right now I only have a couple of my Filthy Fucker prints up, but more will be coming very soon.

Also, my show should be going up at the Sherman Cafe in beautiful Union Square this week.  I just have to finish making my frames and cart the stuff over there to put it up.

In other news, today is one of the lovely fall (or spring) days that make living in New England worthwhile.. at least if you don’t have at least some attraction to snow and obscenely cold weather.

HEDGEDY HOGS!

image

A drawing from my sketchbook depicting my roommate Michael, who recently fractured his wrist in a bike accident and me as platypii.  Also.. I love hedgehogs.  You can probably tell by the way I am running towards hedgehogs while screaming.  Also, Michael may have actually fractured his wrist by trying to imitate my limber almost tentacle-esque arm wavings.

Enjoy.

Sad news

My roommate http://minutefabrications.tumblr.com/ dislocated and broke his wrist on the way home from work today and is without insurance for medical bills or even painkillers.  While this does suck, it could have been much worse.  As I know well of his poverty and lack of insurance, I am offering a hand shaded set of all seven of my current lino prints for $100 to help him with medical bills, rent, and such.  I will probably only be able to do two or three sets of these with all the projects I have going on, so better be quick!  Payment will be arranged through paypal and prints will be sent through USPS or can be picked up if you live in the Boston area.

Its for a good cause… DO IT!

9x12 oil and acrylic on canvas

As usual photos, especially quickly taken ones relying on daylight for lighting do not do my paintings much justice, but here are a couple new ones I reworked and finished today.

In lieu of new work...

I’ve been unofficially taking the last week or two off from doing any serious work.  I’ve been drawing, of course, but I haven’t done any work on finished pieces, so I have had no new work to post.  That will soon change, though, as I have a new piece started and drawings for a few more.  While working on those, though, you lot will simply have to make do with this newly framed drawing from a few months back.  Did I mention I make my own frames?  I do.

study for Nightstand  4”x6” ink and pencil on paper

This is a study for a larger piece I am going to make, though I haven’t figured out exactly how big it will be or what medium it is going to be.  A decent bit of my work is about social isolation through social maladjustment, the isolating nature of contemporary society through the breakdown of strong community bonds and bonding experiences, as well as the isolation caused by the mediation of technology.  This particular piece is more concerned with sexual isolation which can be a consequence of general social isolation.  I’m not sure the study quite gets at this subject the way I want it to, but that is why it is a study.
